Custom Tuxedos and Formalwear
Formal Events are Too Important to
Allow Just Anybody to Handle your Attire
Do Not Leave it to Amateurs
Events that require formal clothing easily number among the most significant in our lives. At Alan David we believe that your formal event is too important to allow just anybody to handle your attire. A formal occasion requires that you look your best. You need to be assured that your garment will fit perfectly and be ready to wear in a timely manner.
The Custom Tuxedo Process at Alan David
Your custom formalwear experience begins with a visit to our Midtown Manhattan showroom and a meeting with one of our formalwear specialists. Once your needs and preferences have been established, a comprehensive measuring process takes place and an individual pattern for your custom tuxedo, morning suit, or dinner jacket is created.
Allow Alan David’s four generations of experience to help guide you with your purchasing decisions. There are so many options in selecting a tuxedo that you as a client are not aware of. Options include lapel height and width, non-satin lapels (often referred to as grosgrain), high or low button stances, vests, color of inside lining, and much more. Most importantly, it is critical that the tuxedo is designed to fit and flatter you on your big day. Do not leave it to amateurs.
After the initial fitting, changes are noted and your formal suit is returned to our factory where it is completed. The fact that all garments in made in the USA makes it possible for us to provide an all together unique level of attention to each garment we produce. No tailored clothing we create is ever outsourced.
What Matters Most in a Custom Tuxedo
Fit versus Flatter
A tuxedo may fit you, but fail to flatter you. For example, a tuxedo with a “boxy” look, wide lapel, and longer jacket will fit you, but will not look good on you. Your custom tuxedo must flatter your body. If you are young & trim then you need a narrow shoulder with a tapered jacket and a thin lapel. If you are heavy, it is critical that the jacket length falls right at the bottom of the seat and that the front button stance is proportional to your torso. There are so many other examples, allow our formalwear experts to guide you through each and every detail.
