The Best Custom Suits NYC Has to Offer
Bespoke Suits Tailored to Absolute Fit Precision
Alan David commissions true bespoke garments, built on the expertise of skilled custom tailors and master craftsmen. Your measurements are taken by master tailors and pattern cutters, never by sales staff. An expert patternmaker interprets your dimensions, and a sample garment is created to confirm the fit. Once approved, the final garment is cut to the precise adjustments made during your fitting for a true bespoke fit.
Alan David features the last true 100% hand-sewn garment collection Made in the USA- the centerpiece of its bespoke portfolio. These pieces feature hand-basted shoulders, perfectly aligned stripes and plaids, and thousands of precise hand stitches. These masterpieces embody bespoke at its highest form and set the standard for all other Alan David clothing collections, each produced with the same precision and fit.
For clients with urgent timelines, Alan David offers an accelerated bespoke process capable of delivering custom suits in as little as ten working days. Guided by five generations of tailoring experience, Alan David continues to commission the finest custom suits NYC has to offer.

Delivery & Rush Service
Your custom suit will be completed in 4 to 5 weeks near NYC. A 10-day rush service is also available. Alan David has never missed a time sensitive deadline. Not after September 11th, not after Hurricane Sandy & not even during Covid. Alan David always delivers!
Achieve a Perfect Fit Through Basted Fittings
To ensure a superior fit, Alan David employs a traditional basted fitting. At this stage, the garment is temporarily assembled with loose basting thread, allowing clients to try it on while adjustments can still be made. This process makes it possible to refine posture, balance, and shoulder line, while also incorporating basic changes such as shortening sleeves
The basted fitting provides assurance that every measurement is precise and that the garment will deliver the highest level of comfort.

Bespoke Process & Timelines
Stage 1: Consultation
A tailored discussion to understand your vision, lifestyle and garment requirements. We then present a curated selection of luxury fabrics from Italy and England, including Zegna, Loro Piana, Dormeuil and exclusive cloths, so you choose the material that fits both style and season.
Process Time: ~30–60 minutes
Stage 2: Measurements
Over 30 precise measurements are taken to capture your posture, shoulder slope, and natural stance. This ensures your custom pattern reflects not just your size but your personal movement and balance.
Process Time: ~1–2 weeks after Stage 1
Stage 3: Basted Fitting
Your suit is hand-assembled with loose white basting stitches, allowing you to try it on before final construction. This stage lets our tailors perfect the fit—adjusting drape, shape, and comfort before any permanent stitching.
Process Time: ~1-2 weeks
Stage 4: Construct
Once your pattern is perfected and the basted fitting approved, your garment enters full bespoke construction. Crafted in our state-of-the-art workshop, it features full canvas chest pieces, hand-stitching, pick-stitched details and a fit built for you.
Process Time: ~2–3 weeks
Stage 5: Fitting & Delivery
Your custom garment is ready for its final fitting. Adjustments are minimal and finalized on-site, and your pattern is saved for future orders. Your suit is typically available for pickup approximately 4–5 weeks from the initial consultation. Free lifetime alterations accompany your purchase.
Process Time: ~4-5 weeks from Stage 1
Rush Orders Available
For clients on a tight schedule, we offer an expedited Rush Order service. Your custom garment can be completed in 10–14 days, depending on fabric availability and complexity, delivering true bespoke quality on an accelerated timeline.

What Matters Most in a Custom Suit
Details that Make a Difference
It is very important to have a true tailor or master fitter take your measurements for your custom suit. Never allow a salesperson to do it.
Make sure the top button on your jacket closes at the fullest part of your stomach. Any higher it will make you look heavier & any lower it will show too much of your shirt and look off balance, especially on a tuxedo.
It is important to make sure the sleeves of your bespoke suit are attached symmetrically so you have a nice clean drape from your shoulder to your wrist. Make sure there is no wrinkling or pulling in the bicep area.
